Service Before Self: What Public Leadership Owes the Community

Public leadership is a form of stewardship. Whether the setting is civic, educational, military, nonprofit, ministry or business, authority creates obligations to people.

Service before self means personal convenience cannot become the highest value. Responsible leaders tell the truth, respect process, protect dignity and understand that trust can take years to build and minutes to damage. The mission must remain larger than the leader.
